My two 8 & 10 originally had some concerns with if they got sick that they would have to go to the hospital. We've limited the news to the nightly news kids edition. But we still see some anxiety... bed time trouble and needing lots of extra attention.
My 9th grader has been concerned about getting it since it is a respiratory virus. She has asthma and been scared to take her inhaler when it's needed because of it. She has turned to just shutting down and refusing to talk about anything related to it for the most part. However, when she does talk about she becomes very negative. Her anxiety has been extremely elevated and her depression has increased as well.
That’s my favorite strategy. I usually fall asleep before I get to my forehead.

Ive tried the meditation/muscle relaxation with my son and it truly does work.
Thanks for giving us a strong vocabulary to use! They are great. We can control our attitude.
Other people's choices we can't control.
Love that strategy.
May not be the best strategy for a healthy diet but I have found that if I pull out a package of Oreo's it helps break the ice and we can start having conversation.. They stay around the table and chat. (I don't usually buy Oreo's)
What would you suggest for parents who are still working outside of the house? I am lucky to still be working full time but our office remains open so I am only home 3 days a week, one of which I am working at home 9am-6pm. By the time I am home and done working we are all exhausted mentally and physically. As a single mom the last thing I want to do is get into any arguments by trying to connect with them. We have tried these conversations and they just get angry and run to their rooms.
She struggles with doing schoolwork on her own. It's an ongoing struggle. Her learning support teacher has been amazing and other teachers have been a struggle.
Great Information! Thank you!
Thank you, Mrs. Taylor!
